's new national catalog of species

The BOE out today published the "Royal Decree 139/2011 of 4 February for the development of the List of Wildlife Species in Special Protection Scheme and the English Catalogue of Endangered Species . " The new standard is full of controversy, especially by the non-inclusion of Sheba as a protected species. Although Sheba is the most iconic, is not the only one who is missing. At the entrance List Project on Wildlife Protection System Special English Catalogue of Endangered Species made a preliminary analysis of the draft Royal Decree, we have not yet done a thorough analysis of the new standard approved, but it seems not very different from the bill. Not appear to have relied heavily on the allegations made against this new law, based largely on paid work by the same administration in recent years ... I will not deny, this new catalog has been a little fiasco for us ... especially as we had hoped to arrange the outrages of the canary in endangered species list and be much more transparent ... A pity ...

Morella faya (Aiton) Wilbur

Our faya or has been described by William Aiton in 1789 in his Hortus Kewensis from material grown in the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, nominated as Myrica faya. Subsequently, other authors described as Faya fragifera Webb in Webb & Berthel and Fayan azorica Raf, but the name was proposed by Aiton preference. Recently it has come to this species, along with many other previously included in Myrica, Morella gender.

We are facing a species of the family of Myricaceace, bearing evergreen trees or shrubs, usually dioecious and between 3 and 12 m. tall, but can reach 20 m. Skin has been very rough, gray color. The leaves are lanceolate to oblanceolate, are bright green and have the beam of 4-12 cm. long by 0.7 to 3 cm. wide, cuneate base, serrated edges and somewhat revolute and short petioles. The flowers are in catkins that arise in the axils of the bracts are usually branched and the leaves are born this year, the male catkins are usually longer than the female. The fruit is small, about 8 mm. diameter, rough appearance, spherical, red or black, with rather fleshy surface, rough and waxy. They are called far or phytosterols (the latter name in La Palma). Its chromosome number is 2n = 16.

This species, along with El Hierro and Roman faya (Morella rivas-martinezii A. Santos & J. Herbert) and the parrot laurel (Laurus novocanariensis Rivas Mart., Lousa, Fern. Prieto, E Dias JC Costa & C. Aguiar ) are the only trees subdioicos (usually dioecious but some feet are monoecious ) from Canary Islands.

The faille is a laurel tree's own canary to be found throughout the islands. This is one of the laurel trees showing greater ecological valence can be found in the thermophile formations of the same, and in the most exposed to the winds. Also part of the rich formations pine ecotone with the . Outside Canary grows wild in the Azores and Madeira. Also present on the southwest coast of Portugal, where many authors consider it native as much as it would result in an Iberian-Macaronesian endemism.

is used to make forks and pitchforks, Horquetón, rods and "bed" for livestock as well as ornamental. Outside their areas of origin is considered a dangerous invasive species, so it is included in the list 100 of the most harmful invasive alien species in the world of the International Union for Conservation of Nature .

Ventilation Perfusion Mismatch In Copd

Digitalis canariensis L. New taxonomic and chorological

cockscomb
This was described by Carl Linnaeus in the first edition of Species Plantarum included in the genus Digitalis. Following the move to Loudon Isoplexis to be later included in the genus Callianassa by Webb and Berthelot. As Isoplexis had priority according to the Code of Botanical Nomenclature , the species was included by most subsequent authors in the genre Isoplexis . Some authors continued to include in Digitalis although most remained within the Isoplexis. In 2008, Albach, Brauchle and Heubl. after a series of phylogenetic work include cockscomb Macaronesian within the genus Digitalis, more specifically in the section Isoplexis.

This is a very branched shrub that reaches 2 meters. Its leaves are green, glossy, alternate, with serrated edge, lanceolate to ovate, sparsely pubescent and somewhat tight at the end of the branches. In summer presents a colorful and dense conical inflorescence, with plenty of red-orange flowers, arranged in terminal clusters. The flowers have corolla bilabiate, about 3 inches long, upper lip longer than the lower (Digitalis feature that distinguishes the Macaronesian) and 4 stamens. The calyx is pentalobulated. The capsule is longer than the calyx, and has many tiny seeds. A singularity of the species of this section is that they are specialized for their flowers are pollinated by birds ( ornithophily ) to bring their flowers produce lots of nectar and flowers are reddish and anarajandos ( see link).

differs from other species of the genus in the Canary Islands (Digitalis isabelliana ( Webb & Berthel . ) Lindinger. and Digitalis chalcantha (Svent. & O'Shan.) Albach, Brauchle & Heubl ) because its leaves are ovate-lanceolate and its larger flowers, about 3 cm. Of Digitalis sceptrum Madeira Lf differs by its smaller size and smaller leaves, and by the inflorescences and flowers (the kind of Madeira has ovate-oblong leaves between 10 and 40 cm long and reaches 4 feet high). Its closest relative among the continental species is Digitalis obscura L. , species to be found in the Iberian Peninsula.

This species is endemic to the islands of Tenerife, La Gomera and La Palma and is undoubtedly the most abundant species of the genus in the Canary Islands, although it is rare in the rare Gomera and La Palma, being however relatively abundant in Tenerife. This plant can be found especially in bright areas of Monteverde and ecotones in the same area with pine , on cliffs, slopes and edges of tracks and trails.

Just What The Doctor Ordered Invitations

.

Several taxonomic changes are reflected in the new terrestrial species list Canarias. On the one hand listed species Myrica are now included in Morella. This change is due to phylogenetic studies recommend the division of the former genus Myrica in several running our species within the genus Morella

In the genus Aeonium has 3 notable changes on the one hand in the complex-Aeonium Aeonium manriqueorum holochrysum is recognized only a species with two subspecies. In the above list is recognized only one species in this blog we have used the old standard by which the complex was formed by 4 species. From now on we will follow the criteria Bañares Baudet real specialist in this group of species. At work Taxonomic and nomenclatural notes on Crassulaceae of the CanaryIslands, Spain includes our old manriqueorum Aeonium arboreum Aeonium as ssp. and recognizes arboreum populations of the eastern islands as separate subspecies Aeonium arboreum ssp. holochrysum clearly including the former A. vestitum synonymy of this subspecies. As Aeonium rubrolineatum unclear what is the criteria that follows the author as not included as synonyms Aeonium arboreum ssp. holochrysum and because it is still referring to it as Aeonium arboreum var. rubrolineatum . We assume that the taxon is still under consideration by the authors. As Aeonium canariensis complex variants include insular subspecies and species and did not like us, whereas plants of La Palma and El Hierro belong to the same subspecies. As Aeonium viscatum included as Aeonium subespcie of lindleyi. Regarding Greenovia at work is treated as a criterion Aeonium section will continue our blog and it does not follow in the new Canary Island species list. Another notable change is the degradation of Aichryson bethencourtianum to a variety of Aichryson tortuosum. As Monanthes is the area of \u200b\u200bMonanthes adcribe polyphylla Monanthes La Palma polyphylla ssp. amydros, is included as a subspecies Monanthes Monanthes adenoscepes minimum and defends the taxonomic validity of Monanthes wildpretii. This paper also describes Aichryson laxum var. latipetalum and Aeonium decorum var. alucense.

  • Monanthes minima (Bolle) Christ ssp. adenoscepes (Svent.) Bañares
  • Monanthes minima (Bolle) Christ ssp.
  • minimum
  • Monanthes polyphylla Haw. ssp. Nyffeler amydros
  • Monanthes polyphylla Haw. ssp. polyphylla

The genus Lotus is one of those changes has tended more and more changes will likely have. In the new list is recognized as including subspecies Lotus Lotus hillebrandii campylocladus, is still recognized the dubious presence of Lotus glaucus in the Canaries, is given the assignment of stocks covered by Lotus glaucus in Gran Canaria and Tenerife to Lotus tenellus and recognition of the El Hierro population above the lotus sessifolius attached to Lotus and Lotus glaucus subspecies the Lotus sessilifolius ssp. villosissimus .

We continue also proposed in the Communications Conservation Congress IV Almería Plant so consider an endemic Lotus tenellus Tenerife and populations that were previously ascribed to Lotus glaucus in Gran Canaria we consider including in Lotus lepthophyllus .

As the Zygophyllaceae, have recently spent much of the species of this genus to tetraene. In this regard it is enlightening to the comment made in Chapter Flora Iberica dedicated to this family "Although gender-Observaciones. Petrusia Baill. In Bull. Msgs. Soc Linn. Paris 1 (35): 273-274 (1881) has priority over tetraene Maxim., Enum. Pl Mongolia 1: 129 (1889) has been proposed conservation of the latter, cf. B.-A. Beier & M. THULIN in Taxon 53 (4): 1078-1079 (2004) - on the basis of the widest knowledge and the need tetraene, otherwise, to propose some 40 new combinations, already made in this genre. Both Petrusia as tetraene were until recently own monotypic C Madagascar and China, respectively.
The new concept of gender includes about 40 species distributed from the RegiónMediterránea and the Canaries to the C of Asia and Africa, often in deserts, arid and high salinity. " As for the list include the new combinations the Zygophyllum old and Zigophyllum gaetulum fontanesii but leaves out Zygophyllum waterlotii. We propose the new combination made by Beier and Thulin in 2003 where included as a subspecies of tetraene gaetula. As for the distribution of the latter taxon should include a recent ita c Fuerteventura. Listing the species would be as follows:

Maytenus
As we follow the approach that we see in the next inning Gymnosporia cryptopetala new species Lanzarote and Fuerteventura. As Maytenus canariensis (Loes.) G. Kunkel & Sunding and attached to poblacioens before Maytenus senegalensis (Lam.) Exell would like Gymnosporia cassinoides (L'Hér.) Mizpah. Cryptopetala Gymnosporia and Reyes-Bet. & A. Santos respectively.

As for Euphorbia is still maintained as a good species Euphorbia lambii Svento. shared approach and updating the chorology of Euphorbia lamarckii Sweet and Euphorbia regis-juba Webb & Berthel.

As Pimpinella is recognized as good species Svento Pimpinella rupicola.

For Hedera canariensis Willd. we follow the criteria of several recent molecular work which are recognized as good species each Macaronesian forms. See, for example in nuclear and Chloroplast Evidence for multiple origins of polyploids and diploids of Hedera (Araliaceae) in the Mediterranean basin .

As for the canary Cistus lists all recent changes and that already adelantamos a previous post quedando as the genre continues down.

recoge be the description of Erysimum albescens (Webb & Berthel.) Bramwell.

recognizes to be phoenicea Lavatera phoenicea as Navaea (Vent.) Webb & Berthel.

As Orobanche and Phelipanche as well as much of the news we gathered at the entrance Plus, concerning some Phelipanche Pomel, boulardi FW Schultz and Orobanche L. (Orobanchaceae) in western Palearctic and some did not know. Yet as regards the criteria we Phelipanche of this work and we let out our listings Phelipanche purpurea (Jacq.) Soják and recognize the presence of Phelipanche schultzii.

  • Orobanche amethystea Thuiller. Orobanche
  • berthelotii Webb & Berthel. Orobanche
  • calendulae Pomel
  • Loefl Orobanche cernua.
  • Orobanche crenata Forssk.
  • hederae Orobanche Orobanche Duby
  • loricata Rchb.
  • Orobanche minor Sm.

As Lavandula Lavandula recognizes bramwellii Upson & S. Andrews but none of the newly described subspecies for Lavandula canariensis and we currently continue to maintain as good taxa, although we believe this genre he has shown over time to be quite difficult in the islands, you need to work deeper.

fails to recognize is Campanula occidentalis Y. Nyman as good species and are considered included in Campanula dichotoma L.

dichotomus Allagoppus
The species was renamed Allagopappus canariensis (Willd.) Greuter see Notulae ad Floramar euro-relevant mediterraneam No. 7

Andyala
As there are several new features. In the species list of 2009 lists the following taxa as species endemic to the Canary Islands.

  • Andryala pinnatifida Aiton ssp. buchiana (Sch. Bip.) Reyes-Bet. & A. Santos
  • Andryala pinnatifida Aiton ssp.
  • pinnatifida pinnatifida
  • Andryala Aiton ssp. preauxiana (Sch. Bip.) G. Kunkel
  • Andryala pinnatifida Aiton ssp. teydensis (Sch. Bip.) Rivas-Mart. & Al.
  • Andryala webbii Sch. Bip. ex Christ. According

database Euro + Med recognized the following taxa.

  • Andryala pinnatifida Aiton ssp.
  • pinnatifida pinnatifida
  • Andryala Aiton ssp. buchiana (Sch. Bip.) Reyes-Bet. & A. Santos Andry
  • pinnatifida ssp latifolia Aiton (Bornm.) G. Kunkel
  • Aiton subsp pinnatifida preauxiana Andry (fig. Bip.) G. Kunkel
  • Aiton subsp pinnatifida teydensis Andry (fig. Bip.) Rivas Mart. & Al. Andry
  • Aiton subsp pinnatifida webbii (H. Christ) G. Kunkel

a seguir Nosotros VAMOS he criterio seguido Euro + Med recognizing the ssp. latifolia and includes Andyala webbii within Andryala pinnatifida complex. Glandulosa Andryala As happens in both lists to be synonymous with Andryala pinnatifida ssp. buchiana (see Notulae ad Floramar euro-relevant mediterraneam No. 26)

In this new version is introduced to Lugo and Tanacetum species within the genus Gonospermum being as follows.

In this new list of 2008 are still held Senecio hermosae Pit. and within the genus Senecio Senecio palmensis. We follow the criteria Notulae ad Floramar euro-relevant mediterraneam No. 22 where Bethencourtia recognized as a good gender and where they continue to recognize rupicola Bethancourtia as a good species. More information Canariothamnus B. Nord., A new genus of the Compositae-Senecioneae, endemic to the Canary Islands.

Included in the listing Senecio Ilsa A. Santos & Reyes-Bet. endemic to La Gomera recently validated from Senecio flaccidus Bolle in Bonplandia 8: 134. Notulae ad 1860 in euro-mediterraneam Floramar relevant No. 26

The new list includes the appointment of Ruscus L. hypoglossum as introduced species in Gran Canaria.

To Androcymbium hierrense A. Santos fails to recognize the existence of two subspecies. In this respect should be noted hereby Phylogeny and population genetics of gender Androcymbium (Colchicaceae)

This third edition of the list is still recognized as a good species to Serapias mascaensis H. Kretzschmar, G. Kretzschmar & Kreutz. For many authors is not only a synonym of Serapias parviflora ( see Plantbase Euro + Med) and other subspecies of Serapias parviflora ( Serapias parviflora Parl. Subsp. Mascaensis (H. Kretzschmar, G. Kretzschmar & Kreutz) Kreutz.) time will tell if this is a good species or not ... For now we follow the approach Euro + Med and not included in our listings.

2009 In the list of quoted capense Stapf Oropetium ssp. hesperidium (Maire) Marrero Rodr. Canarian endemism. We will follow what is said in the article OROPETIUM capense Stapf SUBSP. Hesperidum (MAIRE) STAT. NOV. (POACEAE) A RARE SOUTH SAHARAN ENDEMISM AntiAtlas THIS IN GRAN CANARIA (CANARY ISLANDS) where they say " Distribution: very rare endemic species shared between the southern tip of the Anti-Atlas, Morocco, and the island of Gran Canaria, Canary Islands. "not considered endemic canary.

To Arum italicum Mill
unrecognized recognized canariensis ssp by other authors. In Flora Ibérica time not fall as a synonym of Arum italicum and Euro + Med PlantBase give it as a good taxon endemic to the Azores, Madeira and the Canary Islands, an approach that will continue.

As Sideritis and after the results of work A chemotaxonomic study of nine Canarian Sideritis species started to include in our listings to Sideritis tenoi, taxon that we know almost nothing and mascaensis Sideritis taxa previously included as a variety of Sideritis lotsyi .

Isoplexis Normania
As nava follow the approach proposed in A Reassessment of Normania and Triguera (Solanaceae ) including new taxon within Solanum. It is also interesting to read Flora Ibérica when addressing gender Triguera and comment " recently Triguera gender and phylogenetic Normania Lowe-brothers-are included in Solanum, making for Triguera osbeckii a new name within the genus Solanum: S. Herculeum Bohs [cf. Bohs & In Olmstead Pl Syst. Evol. 228: 33-48 (2001)]. " and work A Three-Gene Phylogeny of the Genus Solanum (Solanaceae) where there are some interesting phylogenetic trees.

Here we collect only part of the changes in the list species and the criteria that we follow in this blog from now on. Listing of 2009 there are many more changes as the inclusion of large numbers of species, etc. chorology review. but to us these have seemed the most Featured. No doubt the list of 2009 is a great work to help us better understand our rich heritage ... now wait for the next review.

2011 INTERNATIONAL YEAR OF FORESTS

The year 2011 has been declared by the General Assembly of the United Nations "International Year Forests." In the Canary Islands today forests cover less than 36% of its original area (and this despite the fact that in the second half of the twentieth century has become a major policy of reforestation) with very clear examples of complete deforestation, as the case the islands of Fuerteventura and Lanzarote and almost complete elimination of forest formations in other islands such as laurel and juniper in Gran Canaria. Natural forests are an important source of wealth, prevent erosion, maintain an important and well-managed biodiversity (which rare) can be a virtually inexhaustible source of economic wealth, are an important reservoir of carbon. The main forest formations are the formations Canary pine, the Monteverde included within the , all courses included in thermophilous forest and riparian forests as willow. That " International Year of Forests " serve more than the "International Year of Biodiversity

News for Macaronesian flora

Today we present two new developments regarding Macaronesian flora.

one hand the description Echium portosanctensis in the journal Annals of the Botanical Garden of Madrid Volume 67 (2) that came out a little, Article A new species of Echium (Boraginaceae) from the islandof Porto Santo (Madeira Archipelago) . This massaroco tajinaste or as they call him there is a species related to Echium nervosum with which it has been working for years (in fact we thought we were formally described ...). This endemic species of Porto Santo in Madeira is threatened by the low number of copies and the risk of hybridization with Echium nervosum.

The other novelty is the description of Lotus alianus as new to the islands Santo Antao and Sao Vicente in Cape Verde. In the same paper we clarify the correct name for another species of lotus in the archipelago and clarifies the division of Lotus jacobeus previous endemic as Cape Verde. In the same study populations and L. Maire pseudocreticus Lotus digii species are included in the Lotus creticus. These developments have been published in the article ALIANUS LOTUS, A NEW SPECIES FROM CAPE VERDE ON LOTUS NOTES AND SECTION Nomenclatural PEDROSIA (FABACEAE) published in Pakistan Journal of Botany 42.

We want to thank Fabian Hdez. Romero for informing us the description of Echium portosanctensis and output of the new issue of Annals of the Botanical Garden of Madrid.
